Joe Wilson Jr. featured in "Considering Matthew Shepard" concert

We're thrilled to share that Rhode Island's own Joe Wilson Jr. will be featured in our upcoming performance of Considering Matthew Shepard on March 9, 2024 at the WaterFire Arts Center. He will be reading several recitations and joining in the final movement, the Gospel-inspired "All of Us." We hope you'll join us for this very special event, one night only.

Joe serves as Director of Art, Culture and Tourism for the City of Providence. Previously, he was a member of the Resident Acting Company and Artistic Staff at Trinity Repertory Company, and served as Trinity's Coordinator of Activism Through Performance and the founder of Trinity Reps' Center for Activism and Performance. His 30 years on the stage included Broadway performances (2000 Tony Award-nominated production of Jesus Christ Superstar and 2018 Tony Award-nominated Icement Cometh starring Denzel Washington. He has performed Off-Broading and in regional theaters throughout the country.

In April of 2022, Joe joined the Providence Singers as Emcee for Broadway Favorites and turned a concert into an Event. It's always an honor to have Joe with us!

Fun fact: Joe Wilson Jr. and Christine Noel first met in 2006 on the set of Trinity Repertory Company's production of A Christmas Carol. Joe played the role of Jacob Marley, and Christine served as musical director.
