Seeking a rehearsal accompanist and section leaders
The IN HARMONY choir is seeking a paid accompanist for the 2023 Spring season.
Purpose of the Position:

Provide musical leadership by encouraging a sense of community, congeniality, and professionalism within the IN HARMONY musical family.

Act as an excellent role model, musically and beyond.

Enable the choir to sing a more challenging repertoire.

Assist the Music Director in improving the musical skills and overall confidence of the singers.
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Accompany all Chorus rehearsals. Provide piano accompaniment for all rehearsals held Monday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 PM, February 6 through June 12
-
Provide accompaniment for solo auditions, small group work, sectionals, and vocal demonstrations
-
Accompany the choir in performances.
Qualifications and Skills
-
Excellent musicianship: superior music reader
-
A good understanding of vocal technique and healthy singing fundamentals.
-
A strong sense of musical leadership and responsibility to singers
-
Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to sensitively give feedback and correction to the members of the ensemble.
-
Sight-reading
-
Broad musical repertoire and knowledge
-
Collaboration (rehearsed and on-the-spot)
-
Great ears for musical nuance (tempo, phrasing, tone, etc.)
-
Punctuality
General and Compensation

The rehearsal site is in Pawtucket, RI
-
Working with students requires passing a BCI clearance, which can be obtained at your local police station.

$1,600 for 16 rehearsals, 1.5-hours long. If the accompanist must miss a rehearsal due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances, compensation will be reduced by $100 per missed rehearsal.

Purpose of the Position:

Provide musical leadership by encouraging a sense of community, congeniality, and professionalism within the IN HARMONY musical family.

Act as an excellent role model, musically and beyond.

Enable the choir to sing a more challenging repertoire.

Assist the Music Director in improving the musical skills and overall confidence of the singers.
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Prepare and perform all repertoire, and solos as requested by the music director.
-
Provide musical leadership and training for your section, giving singers a strong sense of musical security, and general group leadership by setting the example for professional preparation, behavior, attendance, and punctuality.

Advise individual singers on technique and interpretation as needed; organize and lead sectional rehearsals within scheduled rehearsals.

Advise the Music Director about the status and needs of the section, and opportunities to enhance the musical experience of the singers and the audience.

Attend all scheduled Chorale rehearsals and performances during the season, giving priority to choir activities over other engagements.
Qualifications and Skills
-
Excellent musicianship: superior music reader and ensemble singer with good pitch sense and vocal flexibility in a variety of styles (piano skills not required but useful).

A good understanding of vocal technique and healthy singing fundamentals.

A strong sense of musical leadership and responsibility to singers
-
Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to sensitively give feedback and correction to the members of your section.
