Host a Providence Singers Party of Six

What is a Party of Six?

It’s a small group of people who meet at a convenient time and place to learn about an upcoming Providence Singers concert. It works like a book club, only it’s all about choral music.

How do I host one?

First, call us at (401) 751-5700 or send us e-mail. We’ll get you started with our “Six-Pack” of useful materials:

  • background on the Providence Singers and the music we perform;
  • notes on our current season and some hints about what might be coming next;
  • Andy’s suggested list of recommended recordings to prepare for upcoming concerts;
  • order forms and information on group ticket sales (your Party of Six qualifies for a 20-percent discount).

If you like, we can arrange a visit from one of our members – there are lots of music educators in our group – to introduce the music and help lead the conversation. You don’t have to be a trained musician to host a Party of Six. You learn from your friends, and they learn from you. Everyone discovers together.

Where, when and how you host a Party of Six is entirely up to you. You could invite some friends over for tea or cocktails, brunch or dinner. You and your friends could buy or borrow different recordings of the music we’ll be performing, swap them every so often, listen to the different interpretations, then get together to compare notes.

You could have a larger party if you like (six is the minimum group to qualify for the 20-percent discount). You could even dispense with the party, arrange to meet your friends at the concert, and gather somewhere afterward. It’s entirely up to you.

What’s the idea?

Choral music is the most universal and accessible of art forms. The more people listen to choral music and talk about it, the more they will enjoy our concerts. First-time concert-goer or veteran subscriber, we want to sing for more of you.

It’s that simple.
